Seminary Classes Offered in Las Vegas

Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary will offer two seminary classes in Las Vegas, Nevada, beginning with the Spring 2010 semester. The eight-week classes are Foundations for Ministry, taught by Dr. Gary McCoy and Basic Evangelism, taught by Dr. Jim Wilson, both current Golden Gate Seminary professors.

“Golden Gate Seminary is delighted to come to Las Vegas to offer seminary training,” said President Jeff Iorg. “Our goal is to provide contextualized seminary training in the west so that we can participate in the process of shaping leaders for Kingdom work around the world.”

Golden Gate Seminary regularly assesses the ministry and educational needs of the churches in the west. “As a result,” explained President Iorg, “We periodically offer a limited number of courses in a location to judge the level of student interest and church support. In this case, we are teaching in Las Vegas at the invitation of the state convention and association. We are creating a teaching site there in response to their request, but it is not a new campus.”

Both classes will be held on Monday evenings from 6:30 – 9:30 pm, in the Southern Nevada Baptist Association Building, 1482 E. University Avenue, Las Vegas. Application for Seminary enrollment deadline  is December 15, 2009 and course registration deadline is January 20, 2010.

Tuition cost for Southern Baptist students is $185 per credit hour, and tuition for non-Southern Baptist students is $350 per credit hour.

“The teaching site in Las Vegas is a great opportunity for the Southern Nevada Baptist Association and Golden Gate Seminary to work together to provide training for leaders in Nevada,” said Reggie Thomas, Director of the Southern California Campus of Golden Gate. “We are pleased to be able to provide a solid theological foundation, and help students develop practical ministry skills, in order to meet the challenges of ministry in a changing world.”
